Community Behavioral Health Internship Opportunities

Interning in the nonprofit community behavioral health field is a rewarding way to gain practical experience and contacts. Internships are available at various CSO locations and programs. (See a list of CSO locations).

In a single year, CSO accommodates more than 120 interns. Of those eligible, most have gone on to be hired as CSO employees.

    Internship work may include:
    → Developing and facilitating a strength-based therapeutic relationship with a youth and/or family

    → Improving the functioning in the home and community

    → Developing treatment plans

    → Co-facilitating groups

    → Collaborating with other services involved with client

  • Internship Program: Bachelors, Masters

    Internship Locations: Greenfield, Athol, Northampton, Gardner

    Internship work may include:

    → Complete crisis evaluations, assessments, and safety plans

    → Responding to crisis situations

    → Discharge planning

    → Collaborating with other services involved with client

  • Internship Programs: Bachelors, Masters

    Internship Locations: Greenfield, Amherst

    Internship work may include:

    → Working closely with local police department

    → Riding along with police officer to respond to mental health emergency calls

    → Complete crisis evaluations

    → Helping to improve police responses to mental health crises

    → Documentation and follow-up

  • Internship Programs: Masters

    Internship Locations: Pittsfield, Springfield, Gardner, Greenfield, Northampton, Athol

    Internship work may include:

    → Completing assessments and creating treatment plans

    → Working with client/families around implementing the therapeutic interventions

    → Developing Safety Plans and/or other Crisis Planning Tools

    → Collaborating with other services involved with client

  • Internship Program: Masters

    Internship Locations: Northampton, Greenfield, Athol

    Internship work may include:

    → Coordinating care for youth and teens within behavioral health, social services, and medical care

    → Facilitating care plan team meetings with evidence-based wrap

    → Collaborating with other services involved with client

    → Completing learning assessment and care planning

  • Internship Programs: Bachelors, Masters

    Internship Locations: Pittsfield, Springfield, Gardner, Greenfield, Northampton, Athol

    Internship work may include:

    → Learn about integrated and coordinated care

    → Care coordination with medical and social service providers

    → Completing case management with clients

  • Internship Programs: Bachelors, Masters

    Internship Locations: Northampton, Greenfield, Springfield

    Internship work may include:
    → Assist, educate, and motivate clients with the developing/maintaining the following:
    → Daily living skills
    → Interactive skills
    → Identification of goals and strengths
    → Hygiene and household skills
    → Natural support network
    → Housing
    → Employment strategies
    → Crisis intervention

  • Internship Programs: Bachelors, Masters

    Internship Locations: Northampton, Athol, Gardner, Amherst, Great Barrington, Florence

    Internship work may include:
    → Co-facilitate therapeutic/educational groups

    → Conduct one-on-one support to families for basic needs and case management

    → Be a team member and daily activities (playgroups, fun family events)
